Toon hybrid app

Toon is a smart thermostat developed by Quby - an innovation company by Eneco, in The Netherlands. Toon is a device that provides the user control over their house heating system, and smart appliances like Philips HUE lights and manages the energy consumption of their house appliances. Toon's hybrid app is an extension of the display.

Style Guide

I led the implementation of the new brand for the hybrid mobile app while focusing on improving features and implementing mobile best practices at the same time.

I aimed to create consistency by developing a mobile design system that facilitated the implementation of the new brand and served as a foundation for better working practices.

Re-thinking features and experience

Together with the design team, developers, and UX researcher we reviewed features and the user experience and improved them based on user insights. From sketches to wireframes, everything was tackled before moving into high-fidelity.

Wireflows

For a better working process and clear communication, all the interaction flows were designed and used extensively as a tool in collaborative discussions within the development team in which I was embedded, this facilitated a correct design and implementation without any sprint delays.

From 2 starts to 4 stars in Apple and Google Play stores

It was a massive work where all the details were revisited and thought off with the dev team and Project Owner, including the error messages and the tone of voice, this last one owned by the UX copywriter. The hard work proved valuable as we moved from 2 to 4 stars by the end of the new brand and feature revision implementation. It's worth noticing that I worked embedded in the dev team and worked closely with the QA (my favorite way to work!), which facilitated the process a lot.
